my fave movie

I just can’t get over this movie. I love the characters considering that Julia Robert stars the film and Cameron Diaz is also one of the lead roles. I have watched this film for the nth time, infact I have almost memorize the lines. I even bought the OST album of My Best Friend’s Wedding.

I still can remember the first time I’ve watched this flick. I’ve seen this by my self, I can’t drag along anyone with me because during that time they were up to doing something else. So, I decided to watch it on my own. And being alone was all worth it.

It’s a story of regret, for Jule’s side. She should’ve learned how she felt earlier. She should’ve hugged Michael when she could. She should’ve told Michael how she felt. But it’s too late for her to confess because he’s going to get married and has fallen for someone else. All she is now is the "pus that feeds the fungus." But Michael was thankful about how she felt towards him. However, all he can feel towards his bestfriend, Jules, was nothing more than friendship.  

This is an example of a story of regret. How one was given the opportunity but was not utilized. A story of wasted chance. But despite the obvious remorse that the movie has shown, it has awaken the minds of its viewers to take chances and to strike the iron while its hot.

I am not so mushy, but it got the mushiness out of me. How I so loathed Cameron for fighting her love for Michael. But thanks to George, whose gender is dubious, he at least lessen the resentment that Jules felt because he may have opened some posibilities.

absolute freedom

 Absolute is synonymous to total, complete, utter, unconditional, unlimited and supreme. Freedom on the other hand, is the same as liberty, independence, lack of restrictions, sovereignty and looseness. But when these two words are combined, it creates a whole different meaning.

There are things that are absolute in this world like the water, sand and air. Comparatively, freedom is also widespread in our planet, because we are able to choose things at our own liberty. But is there absolute freedom amongst each one of us?
As what I’ve learned before, absolute freedom is non-existent, because despite the fact of freedom among humanity, we are still bounded by our human laws. One has the autonomy to reign himself, but that autonomy is duly bounded by some restrictions.

What if absolute freedom exists? If absolute freedom exists then laws won’t subsist. Our lives are merely guided by each other’s desires. With absolute freedom killing, raping, burglary, war and total chaos will happen. No one would care if you are beheaded at a busy street. No one would mind if you are being gang raped on a hall way with groups of people. No one would initiate a peace talk despite the prevalence of battles and hostilities. No one will care and no one will do anything all because they are entitled to claim their right towards absolute freedom. There will be confusion whether one’s actions are against the law or are an expression of freedom.    

Bringing back to the time of Adam and Eve, they were given everything that they need and all the things that they desire, but they were prohibited to one thing and by breaking that restriction, they have suffered eternal damnation.

Lastly, even if absolute freedom sounds appealing but if it will mean a world of bedlam, then we are better off without it.

polygamy

“In sickness and in health, till death do we part?”

Familiar statement, isn’t it? To remind you, this is part of the vow that married people swears during their matrimony. But how can they turn this promise into nothing?

Currently, polygamy has become a trend among married people. In fact, it is what we commonly see on T.V., the wife castrating her husband’s organ because of adultery, a husband being jailed because of killing a man which he caught in bed with his wife and families being destroyed because of surrendering in to the arms of evil temptations. Polygamy created a new type of family which we now call as broken, or better yet known as “broken family.” Also, single parenthood has aroused, as well as, marriage after conceiving and premarital sex.

Nowadays, people accept these trends with open arms. In actuality, some are proud of bearing their wombs to an unknown father or to a committed man, some families are now used to having extended no-blood-related families or the mistress type of extension, some families have accepted there mere extension to another families because their dad has coveted some other woman and has produced offspring that they should acknowledge and all other sad incidents that breaks the promise that binds a married couple.

If that couple could not stand their vow, why would they dare to? Have they forgotten the things that they have sworn of? What’s the use of marriage then?

Polygamy has brought nothing but chaos; it is like the world war something amongst families. So if you’re married and you’re starting to get trailed towards the road of unfaithfulness, better think twice or don’t think and live a remorseful life.

hail to the beach

Pristine waters… white and fine appealing sand… tall and enthralling coconut trees… mesmerizing aquatic life.

Ah! Beach! Doesn’t that ring a bell? Doesn’t that make you want to pack up and head to the waters? For me it does. How I am captivated with the beguiling things that the beach could offer.

The thought of going to the beach always lightens me up because being there relaxes me. The sound of the wave, the sea breeze, the sensation of salt water in your skin and the pricking heat of the sun are all the things that makes me want to come to the beach. It takes away all the stress that my city life brings, all the uneventful things that had happened turns into a laughing stock all because of the effect of the sea.

When you’re in a beach, you get to wear the skimpiest suit you have and it is acceptable. Try wearing it to the mall, when you’re in the city, and you’ll get attention but not in a good way. When you’re in a beach, you get to free your feet from any forms of shoe wear because the white sand offers you a soothing sole sensation, like you’re given a foot scrub. When you’re in a beach, you get to improve your color, from pale to a healthy tan. When you’re in a beach, you get to appreciate the simplest thing ever, from the presence of a refrigerator, so that you’re foods won’t get spoiled, to the comfy nipa or open air hut that you’ll be staying at. Also, the beach offers you a glamorous back draft, how the virgin forest, sea water, sand and stones create drama to your photos.

So for those who are aquaphillic like me, let’s pack up. And worship the beauty that the beach could offer.

Food Facts That Restaurants Hide From You Posted Mon, May 05, 2008, 2:26 pm PDT

What does the restaurant industry have to hide? One of the true issues behind obesity is the fact that many chain restaurants — which provide one-third of all restaurant meals, according to the New York Department of Health — obfuscate the fat and calorie counts of their menu items, and fight any attempt to shed light on what, exactly, is going on between their buns and inside their taco shells.

Through scientific testing, consultations with nutrition experts, and good old-fashioned snooping, we uncovered some of the secrets these mega-restaurateurs have been keeping.

It’s no wonder . . .

1) T.G.I. Friday’s

. . . doesn’t want you to know the nutritional impact of any of its dishes, which they have made a policy of not revealing to customers for years, despite the fact that major competitors such as Chili’s and Ruby Tuesday’s do just that. Thankfully, new legislation in New York City forces restaurants with 15 or more branches nationwide to provide calorie counts for all dishes and drinks on their menus.

We popped by T.G.I. Friday’s the day the law went into effect and saw some real shockers: 2,270 calories for Potato Skins, 1,670 calories for Double-Stack Quesadillas, and, most appalling of all, a Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad with 1,360 calories! Now we see why they worked so hard to keep these numbers hidden.

2) Burger King

. . . doesn’t want you to know that its French Toast Sticks (which deliver more than 4 grams of fat per stick) share a deep fryer with the pork sausage, pork fritters, Chicken Tenders, Chicken Fries, Big Fish patties, hash browns, onion rings, and Cheesy Tots — and that all of those items contain harmful trans fats.

But there is hope: After the company was sued by the Center for Science in the Public Interest for moving too slowly to remove trans fats from its menu, Burger King promised to phase them out by the end of this year.

3) Red Robin

. . . doesn’t want you to know the nutritional impact of its gourmet burgers. "A gourmet burger starts by being an honest burger," Red Robin’s Web site declares — but not, apparently, a burger that will come clean about its nutrition facts.

When contacted, Red Robin’s senior vice president responded that nutritional information for the menu would be available in October 2007. As of May 2008, however, nutrition facts were still not posted on the site.

4 ) Maggiano’s Little Italy

. . . doesn’t want you to know just how many calories and carbs you’re consuming in those massive pasta portions. (As the menu puts it, "Family-style service or individual entrees are available . . . Whichever you choose, you’ll have plenty to share or take home.")

In Italy, a standard pasta serving means 4 ounces of noodles with a few tablespoons of sauce. At Maggiano’s, a large order of pasta translates into 2 pounds of noodles piled high on a hubcap-size dinner plate (15 1/2 inches in diameter). A Maggiano’s PR rep responded to our request for nutritional information a week later: "Sorry for the delay. I had to wait for corporate’s approval. Unfortunately, they have declined to participate."

5) Sit-down chains

. . . don’t want you to know that their food is actually considerably worse for you than the often-maligned fast-food fare. In fact, our menu analysis of 24 national chains revealed that the average entree at a sit-down restaurant contains 867 calories, compared with 522 calories in the average fast-food entree. And that’s before appetizers, sides, or desserts — selections that can easily double your total calorie intake.

Have you come across some one with a short-thick-greasy-dyed-black hair with bangs cut straight across the forehead and cut high over the ears- Or horn-rim glasses-or at least thick black frames bald head-furry face-heavy slacks, often too tight and short-thin, too-small polyester button-ups in dark colors, or threadbare children’s size t-shirts with random slogans-button the collar if you got one-clunky black shoes-scarves-gas station jackets-too-small cardigans and v-neck sweaters-argyle-anorexic thinness?

Did I cut you out of air? Sorry, but this was a description that I have stumbled upon the net. And these are the perfect (at least for me) description of the current trend that I’ve seen among teenagers. At first, I was confused as to whether they are gay or bi. I can’t decipher why they chose such hair style or the type of tight jeans they are wearing. I felt it was weird. It creep me out, they creep me out, for that matter. They can really draw attention but I don’t think it’s in a positive way. Then I’ve learned, what they are trying to mock-up is the EMO trend or The Emo Romulan look, to be exact.

Descriptively, Emo (pronounced / ˈiːmoʊ/) is a style of rock music which describes several independent variations of music with common stylistic roots. By the late ’90s, the American teen’s appetite for hardcore had somewhat subsided, replaced by a craving for semi-commercialized punk pop.

So that’s EMO. So whenever you get pass or come across someone with that look, at least you’ll have an idea what fashion they are trying to express.

im not a plastic bag

Does this bag look familiar?

For me, it does. I’ve seen it every where I go around the city. In my mind, I thought it was some product from China that is again being mass produced. Indeed, it was. Only that it was faux. I was browsing the net and known that it was a limited edition bag by Anya Hindmarch and was originally sold for $15, but now it goes for $205, but don’t fret, you can only buy it for P300 or less, anywhere where there are “tiangges.” I feel for the one who has created this bag, her rights towards originality and creativity were not served. I hope people won’t patronize this knock-offs. Coz if this will continue, people will just be copying some other person’s creation and their ability to initiate an individualized craft would slowly diminish.
